PS-Expect another email from me later this month with exciting news about me and Northwest Profiles on PBS! To get to the parking lot behind the building you’ll have to come down Lincoln past the closed for construction signs, just so you know. You can park along the street in the front of the building or there is a parking lot behind the building. The gallery is at 628 N Monroe St, Spokane, WA 99201, one building down from Birdie’s Pie Shop. This Friday the 5th will be the opening party for First Friday and all of us artists will be there if you’d like to come by to chat 5-8. We delivered our work on New Year’s Eve and I got a look at what everyone has made and I have to say it is going to be a bang up show! I’m very proud of what I’ve made-I really pushed myself both in terms of size and complexity and emotion.

It is called ‘Listening for the Echo: Something About Farming’ and has work by myself and Karen Mobley (both painters) and two photographers-Pam Deutschman and Abbie Evans. I would like to invite you all to come see the fabulous group show I’m in at the Terrain Gallery on Monroe for the month of January. If more than one person wishes to purchase an original drawing, the winner will be determined by drawing straws. As each round is completed, the drawings will be immediately hung up and made available for a fixed price of $75. Part performance art, part laboratory, part art bazaar, the SDR is an incredible opportunity to go behind the studio walls and watch some of your favorite Spokane artists create original drawings from a blank page. The event consists of three one-hour rounds with the artists drawing simultaneously.

I’m also going to be participating in the Spokane Drawing Rally, which is a very fun live drawing/painting event that benefits the Spokane Art School. You will arrive with your own photograph and leave with a painting and knowledge on repeating the process for future projects. Megan Perkins, local Spokane artist known for her whimsical paintings of Spokane, will teach you her method for getting good results as she demonstrates each step of the process from photograph to sketch to study to painting.
